School-Related Gender Based Violence (SRGBV) is an epidemic around the world. Over 246 million children and adolescents worldwide have experienced physical or psychological violence (including bullying, corporal punishment, and sexual violence) when traveling to and from school, on the school grounds, or in the classroom (Plan International).
How do we as researchers know that the data we collect reflects the full unbiased experience of the student, especially when asking sensitive questions with no right or wrong answer? A team at RTI International designed a small pilot to unpack this very question.

Journeys was launched on June 27, 2017 by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Honorable Janet K. Museveni, and the US Ambassador to Uganda, Honorable Deborah R. Malac, during the national commemoration of the Day of the African Child. It has since been rolled out to 2,600 public primary schools in Uganda.
